Hincmar de Reims
( 806, ¿norte de Francia?–21 dic. 882, Epernay, cerca de Reims).

Arzobispo y teólogo francés, el eclesiástico más influyente del s. IX. Aconsejó a los emperadores de la dinastía carolingia, Luis I y Carlos II, y fue nombrado arzobispo de Reims en 845. Mantuvo su influencia a pesar de la hostilidad de Lotario I, a cuyo divorcio se opuso firmemente, y logró la ascensión de Carlos al trono de Lotaringia. También concitó el apoyo de la iglesia en defensa de Carlos cuando Luis el Germánico invadió el reino en 858. Sus escritos teológicos incluyen tratados sobre la predestinación, en los que argumentó que Dios no condena a un pecador de antemano, y una defensa de la oposición cristiana al divorcio.
